Latest Set of Rules for Return to Hockey (QR code requirements)

Last week the Province of Ontario announced that effective January 31, 2022 there will be a gradual easing of the restrictions imposed earlier this month. Effective January 31, indoor sports, including those in arenas, will be permitted to resume.  As contract holders, we continue to be responsible for adherence to all return to play guidelines, including proper mask wearing, health checks, contact tracing and proof of vaccination.  See below for a full list of all regulations related to the resumption of indoor hockey.  
 
The ORHC wishes to bring to your attention the following two important points relating to Ontario's Enhanced Vaccine Certificate with QR code
 
1. All residents aged 12 years or older will be required to show Enhanced Vaccination Certificate and ID in order to access each ice time.  There will be active screening at all Sensplex facilites and facilities outside of the City of Ottawa.  
2. An ORHC volunteer will be actively scanning QR codes at all HOME GAMES for both teams; including players, team staff and spectators (age 12 and over ) accessing the ice pad.
 
Below I am sharing information as we currently understand. Please note that any of this information may change once we receive the updated Provincial Regulations.......
 
 
Capacity Limits

• Facilities will be permitted to open with capacity limits of 50%. For on ice, this will be a maximum of 80.
• Spectator areas of a facility are also limited to 50%, to a maximum of 500. Signs will be posted at rink entrances indicating capacity. 
• Dressing room capacity is limited to 50%, chairs will be available for overflow. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as much as possible. Showers remain open.

 
Continued requirements for Contract Holders

• Health Screen:. Contract holders can use their own screening tool as long as it mirrors OPH COVID-19 Screening Tool for Students - Ottawa Public Health or Provincial screening requirements Ontario COVID-19 Self-Assessment  
• Contact Tracing: The Contract Holder agrees to take attendance for each date on the contract and for each group accessing the space during the rental period. Records must be kept for One Month (31 days) for the purpose of tracing in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak.
• Masks: Any person who enters or uses the facility (or when waiting in line outside the facility) other than when actively participating in a sport or fitness, must wear a mask at all times.

 
Food/Drink

• Food or drinks services are prohibited. Canteens are to remain closed. Water fountains are open. No food/drink in spectator areas. Exceptions for water/drink for those participating in sport only.

 
POV verification using Provincial QR Code
All residents, age 12 years and older, will be required to use Ontario's Enhanced Vaccine Certificate with QR code to show proof of vaccination. The certificate can be shown either on their hand-held device or printout. Those with a medical exemption will also need to use the QR code certificate as of January 10. People from outside Ontario must follow the Province of Ontario’s instructions on providing their proof of vaccination. Valid identification must show a participant’s name and date of birth and has been issued by an institution or public body. Photo identification is not required and the identification does not need to be government-issued. The app to scan QR codes can be downloaded from covid-19.ontario.ca.  Data is not required to use this app and it does not store personal information.  Please continue using your existing tracking process while adding the new enhanced QR code and the Verify Ontario app for all individuals 12+ attending your booking.
