Welcome Letter

2018-08-23 - ROMANS Novice

Novice Romans Tryouts

Hello,

My name is Kelly Godard and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to coach the Osgoode Richmond Romans Novice team for the upcoming 2018/19 season.  I’d like to take moment to welcome all those players that will be trying out for the team.

As always, the tryouts will allow every player equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills and capabilities in a fun and safe environment.  I will do my best to run the evaluations as smoothly as possible, but some of the drills may be slower than usual due to the requirement to allow separation between boys and providing evaluators with ample time to see the players.

I have a very basic coaching philosophy. Love of sport. As long as the athletes and coaching staff are having fun, that is a success. It is my goal that each player finishes the 2018/2019 season as a better player/person than when they began.

The plan over the course of the season will be to develop a fast-paced, high tempo transition game with lots of puck movement and focus on executing fundamental skills, all while creating and maintaining a respectful environment.

My commitment to you and your player is to always be prepared, conduct well run & structured practices, provide positive reinforcement on and off the ice and creating a positive environment where the athletes are having fun and developing.

Players and parents are expected to commit to the scheduled ice times over the course of the season.
TOURNAMENTS Confirmed:
  • Oct. 12th - 14th: Kingston Canadians
  • Nov. 9th - 11th: Romans Tournament

Club fees - $9350, which is $550/player with a 17 player roster.
Team fees - Novice $6970 per team, which is $410/player with a 17 player roster.
  • Team fees cover tournaments, extra ice, refs for exhibition games, team events like meals, team equipment, etc. The Romans fee goes to the club to pay for ice (practice and games) and refs, jerseys, socks, etc.
It is my hope that through fundraising and sponsorship, we can reduce this amount.

I wish everyone the best of luck during the tryouts!
See you on the ice!
Kelly Godard
